I’ve been living n Scotland for many years now, but I still find myself thinking about what means to have left one country and made a life in another. Earlier this year, we took a little road trip through Cairngorms in Scotland. We stopped at a viewpoint near Devil’s Elbow, and I could not stop looking at this winding road in the distance. This summer I was not sketching much. Maybe it’s the busy months, maybe I was busy with work or maybe I just needed some break and adjusting after some soul searching in the mountains. I just want to make and share art. In this case ink art. Arriving to finnished paintings is not only about actual act of painting. It takes many walks seeing many sceneries before I arrive to a point where I feel a ‘pressure cooker’ needs a release in the form of paintings. Lately I’m realising that my creative journey is not only about paintings - although they are one of the products of such journey. May was an interesting one! Start of a tiny journey of tiny encounters. It was long 13km but sunny warm day. I was running and walking through the hills and forests and stopped for an occasional view. As I was standing admiring one of such views over river Tay in the distance and ruin of the tower on the cliff above Perth my attention was grabbed by these purple flowers as they bounced in the light inbetween leaves. And then suddenly a bee came around to drink sweet nectar. The moment was perfect. One of those we tend to overlook, one of those we tend to pass by.
